Crowned heads of state, rock stars and football aces have all equally
enjoyed the stylish hospitality of the establishment in the past 140
years.
The historic Grand Hotel Europa looks back on a proud past. Built in
1869, it received the utmost praise of its illustrious guests even in
the early years. Bavarian King Ludwig II commented appreciatively: “This
is the most beautiful location in Innsbruck to celebrate festive
events”. But also in the recent past the establishment was able to
welcome numerous personalities, stars and sports celebrities, for
instance Queen Elizabeth II, the Rolling Stones or the football clubs FC
Valencia and AC Florence. Surrounded by the impressive panorama of the
Innsbruck mountain world and centrally located opposite the main railway
station, Grand Hotel Europa is today, as in the past, an important
fixture in local tourism and the city’s social life. Tyrolean tradition
and imperial flair, individual charm and modern comfort unite in
Innsbruck’s only 5-star hotel.
A total of 122 rooms, including 10 suites ( all individually designed)
as well as the “Tiroler Stube” (“Tyrolean Parlour”) – furnished with 300
year old paneling – and the elegant Biedermeier Room provide the
suitable environment for any taste. The six conference and event rooms
offer space for 2 to 400 people and are suitable for business occasions
as well as for private celebrations, whether in a small circle or in
grandiose style. Especially to be emphasized in this connection is the
hotel’s “gem” — the historically protected Baroque Hall, an
architectural jewel from the year 1883.
The award-winning gourmet restaurant Europa Stüberl, for many years a
meeting place for lovers of exacting “Tyrolean cuisine” and light
international culinary delights, promises culinary variety. Chef Roland
Geisberger has been in charge of the kitchen team for more than 8 years.
The native of Upper Austria, who can look back on positions at renowned
establishments in Austria (amongst other things, the 5-star Relais &
Chateaux Top Hotel in Obergurgl), Switzerland and France, is an advocate
of creative regional cuisine, in which the utilization of local products
also plays a large role.
