It is not often that you surroundings are so completely out of this
world that they literally transport you to another place, but here at
the Vintage Design Hotel Sax, they have managed to do just that. The
design is a mixture of 50s, 60s and 70s retro furniture, wallpaper,
fabrics and ornaments, and the result is a fabulous, colorful, plastic
world right out of a design book. Authentic designers from each period
have been followed: Pantone, Colani, Saarinen, Eames, to name but a few,
and there are many original pieces mixed up with more modern imitations
and, of course, state of the art amenities.
The rooms of Vintage Design Hotel Sax are a testament to originality.
Each one is unique; in some, brilliant white contrasts with lime green
and bright orange, the walls are alive with black and white patterns and
the furniture is all soft shapes and curves. In others, monotone walls,
bright carpets and Mirò-style art work grab the attention. The
restaurant is no exception to the hotel’s style- it serves good quality
traditional Czech cuisine and excellent Moravian wine in a very
un-traditional, kitsch-fabulous environment. Everywhere there is color,
every where there is style; from the crazy spiky lampshades to the zebra
tiled mosaic bathrooms, this hotel is a real gem of originality.
The Lesser Town, where the Hotel Sax is located, is one of the most
beautiful parts of Prague. Nearby are the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle,
Saint Nicholas Church and the Church of Our Lady of Victory. You can
also see the Lesser Town palaces and Saint Nicholas Church from the
windows of the hotel rooms.
