Chateau de Brindos is one of the oldest houses in the province of Labourd and the district of Bayonne. Local archives mention ‘‘Squire Menjion of Brindos’’ as far back as 1438. The "Chateau" was built in the tradition of many private residences of the period. Brindos was however undoubtedly the most ambitious and the longest to build. The Chateau de Brindos, property of Serge Blanco reflects peace, harmony and security. Chef Antoine Antunes and his entire team will welcome you to Brunch, to Lunch, and to Dinner in his restaurant complete with a breathtaking view over the Lake and pontoon-terrace. Chef Antoine offers his guests a refined, savory, original, creative, and perpetually authentic cuisine... For cocktail hour, or to round off a delightful evening, the Head Barman will have you discover his famous cocktails at the Bar des boiseries, whose decoration is unmistakably reminiscent of the atmosphere of galas-past, held at Brindos during the Roaring Twenties. When Sir Reginald Wright bought it at the end of the 1920’s it was said that the Brindos Lake Estate consisted of "a Basque chalet, outbuildings and a small farm with land suitable for cultivation" covering approximately 40 ha. With this wealthy lover of the Basque Country, great art enthusiast and traveller, Brindos followed the tradition of the great residences which perfectly illustrate the atmosphere of perpetual celebration: people danced to the tunes of Cole Porter and beautiful women in Chanel lay on the sundrenched terraces, taking advantage of the coloured and changing light so particular to the Basque Country. The lake lent itself to all kinds of extravagances. In the evening guests would row across the lake in the freshness of the evening and contemplate the Chateau reflected in the iridescent waters illuminated by hundreds of lamps. Today Brindos has not lost any of its greatness which could almost be described as dreamlike.
