Chateau de Castel Novel is perched on a rock from Périgord, dates from
XIIIth and XVth centuries. The "Orangerie" was built during the XVIIIth
century. The Cottage and the "Biscaye" Room, close to the Swimming Pool,
are there to complement one another in order for you to enjoy staying in
this hotel.
The 27 bedrooms and suites are all beautifully maintained with each one
personalized : for example, the Louis XVI apartment which was Colette's
room, the Louis XIII round bedroom in the turret with exposed beams,
duplex with wooden stairs to the children bedroom. The Cottage is
located 50 meters away from the castle houses ten attic bedrooms. These
slightly mansard rooms are a little smaller but all with air
conditioning. A large French window in each room opens onto the garden
and offers a fantastic view of the park.
Intentionally regional in flavor, the cuisine presented by the
Castel-Novel restaurant underlines the riches of the region, notably the
truffle, foie gras, poultry, veal from calves reared on the farm, and
mushrooms. In order to give these outstanding dishes their full flavour,
Nicolas Soulié has updated traditional recipes, as well as preparing
some original dishes. But just to get those taste-buds tingling, let us
dip into the menu at random: Creamy Boletus mushroom soup served hot,
Plain duck foie gras with sweet and sour figs, Truffle pastry with
vintage port, Sol fillet with curly kale and pig's trotters, Wild thyme
panful piece of veal with vegetable from the autumn, Pan fried duck foie
gras escalope, Orange Armagnac liqueur soufflé, Iced dessert with walnut
liqueur and hazelnut gateau, Chocolate dessert with caramelised apple...
