The Château de Sully affords the traveler a convenient base from which
to explore Normandy. Just to the north of Bayeux at the end of a
tree-lined drive, this beautiful 18th-century château is set on an
expanse of green lawn with gorgeous gardens at the back—an elegant
hotel.
The dining room is lovely, with a color scheme of blues and beiges from
table linens to drapes to china, and has an enclosed outdoor terrace
overlooking the garden. Public rooms run the length of the château at
the back and also enjoy beautiful garden views. The games room with its
billiard table is a social place to settle, the bar with its intimate
clustering of tables is most attractive, and the grand sitting room is
very pretty.
Château de Sully offers 23 guestrooms and 13 are found in the main
château, the rest in the neighboring Manoir. Although classification of
rooms varies from Standard, Superior, and Junior Suite to Duplex, the
difference is not in the elegance, the comfort, or style of furnishings
but rather in the size of room and location. There is only one junior
suite, a romantic room draped in a handsome fabric of reds and greens.
The rooms in the Manoir share the building with the fitness room, indoor
pool, and wellness center. These rooms are more modern, a bit larger and
two on the garden level enjoy their own terrace.
