La Croix Blanche de Sologne was originally a convent became an Hotel, in
the XVth Century and in 1779 was bought by Mme. Marie-Madeleine
Thibonneau, the first chef owner of the Hotel. Since then, eighteen
women have been in charge of the kitchen and it is still so today.
It is located in one of the best preserved villages of the Sologne,
surrounded by original and immaculately preserved dwellings. La Croix
Blanche de Sologne, being only one and a half hour from Paris is one of
the preferred countryside places for many celebrities, such as the Louis
Vuitton family, who have their permanent residence in Chaumont sur
Tharonne.
La Croix Blanche de Sologne is more a gastronomic restaurant than a
hotel. One could even say is a restaurant with rooms. There are fifteen
rooms in total, ten on the upper level of the main building and five in
two outbuildings facing the garden. The rooms in the main building are
decorated in a traditional old style, and the ones in the outer
buildings have a modern style. All the rooms are sparkling clean and
fitted with all up-to-date comfort. On the other hand, the restaurant,
which is the main affair of La Croix Blanche, is excellent, with a wine
list that covers just about every region of France.
