The plain facade of a former 1960s workers' home conceals what was
Munich's first boutique hotel (opened in 1998). Its ambience, lightness
and simplicity make it a great fit for modern travelers with a penchant
for uncluttered design and unpretentious, caring service.
The H'Otello Advokat B'01 is the brainchild of Kevin Voigt, whose years in the
hotel business have taught him what guests truly want in a hotel:
comfortable beds, a minibar stocked with complimentary drinks and a
fantastic breakfast. Expect an orgasmic bounty of fresh fruit, deli
salads, smoked salmon, organic cheeses and other palate-pleasers, all
beautifully arranged on a giant table.
The 54 rooms are minimalist, dressed in warm creams and whites, with
tactile fabrics and subtle lighting. Playful perks abound. A polished
apple balances on the pillow. A single fresh flower brightens the
nightstand. Framed photographs grace the walls. Rooms are snug, but many
have a private balcony. Views are best from the rooftop terrace, a cosy
spot where you can wind down from the day. The lobby-lounge has piles of
newspapers and complimentary sherry and nibbles.
