Dunbrody Country House is a small luxury hotel in Wexford located on the
dramatic Hook Peninsula on Ireland’s south coast. Owned and operated by
husband and wife team Kevin & Catherine Dundon, Dunbrody Country House
reflects their joint passion for excellence in all areas - fine food and
a friendly, relaxed service combined with luxury accommodation all
within the centuries-old walls of this beautiful Georgian property.
Set in 300 acres of gardens and estate the luxury Dunbrody House hotel
in Wexford is close to nature but far from the ordinary. Re-define your
interpretation of the traditional Irish country house hotel. Yes, you
will find the expected relaxed elegance of its Georgian origins with the
original 1830s Irish oak floors, pitched pine window shutters, high
ceilings, twinkling chandeliers and crackling turf fires. But this is
all mixed with a palette of rich, earthy colours, plenty of natural
sunlight streaming in the picture windows, all the modern must haves
such as Wi-Fi, Bose DVD/CD players, chic champagne bar and terrace.
Also available to book is the Lodge at Dunbrody - a wonderful 3 bedroom
lodge in the private courtyard with stunning formal sitting room, open
turf fire, sunny and spacious kitchen with separate morning and evening
patios. All original features are intact and enhanced with beautiful
interiors and very comfortable furnishings.
Dunbrody Country House in Wexford has always been about chilling out and
taking sometime. In the Winter months guests enjoy the late breakfast
(served till Noon each day), reading the papers in front of one of the
crackling turf fires, catching up on sleep with a lazy afternoon nap
before sampling the delights of the Harvest Room restaurant later on.
Winter brings crisp frosty mornings perfect for a short stroll through
the woodland walk to visit the chickens or Kevin's pot-bellied pig
Delago. When it’s blowing a gale head for the Hook Lighthouse or Carivan
Beach for a more energizing walk to really blow away the cobwebs and
work up an oppetite for later on. The Hook Peninsula boasts a host of
different activities - 14 different beaches, plenty of ruined castles,
abbeys and houses, the Kennedy Arboretum & Homestead and of course some
lovely fishing villages complete with a choice of country pubs.
Don’t forget to recharge the body and soul at the intimate spa where the
focus is all on pampering. For those wishing to brush up on their
culinary skills there is the world-renowned Dunbrody Cookery School.
Sometimes, it is all too easy to not leave the grounds of Dunbrody at
all during your stay.
