Surrounded by the luxuriant nature of the Maratea coast, Villa Cheta
Elite is the ideal place for rediscovering peace of the senses, thanks
to its panoramic position encircled by a blue sea, green wooded
mountains and candid white long sandy stretches.
It is one of the historical residences of the area which has always been
used for hospitality purposes. Indeed a century ago the Villa Cheta
Elite it was the residence of the noble Marsicano family and it was
considered a great privilege to be formally received by them in this
building. Not only because of the villa’s magnificence and art deco
facade and interiors but above all because of the sophisticated meals
artfully prepared by the lady of the house to satisfy even the most
demanding taste buds. This custom has been jealously conserved over the
years, even when the building was converted into a hotel. In 1982 the
Aquadro family feels under the charms of this place and took over
management of the hotel. They increased the value of the original
structure while striving to hold onto its hospitality tradition of a
charming hotel, from the service through to the furnishings.
The original glass panels rose and cream colored facade with floral
friezes and period furniture in all the rooms can still be admired
today. The number of rooms is limited in order to allow hotel guests
more privacy. Prized fabrics, lace and antique mirrors add a personal
touch to each of the rooms from which you can admire the crystalline
Tyrrhenian Sea and splendid garden filled with hundred-year old trees
and fragrant flowers.
Dinners are held by candlelight in the beautiful internal room of the
Villa Cheta Elite with lace tablecloths, silver cutlery and fresh
flowers on every table. Before dinner you can enjoy an aperitif on the
bloom-filled terrace and admire the spectacular sunset of Maratea.
Typical dishes include pumpkin filled ravioli in a raisin wine sauce,
tortellini with chestnuts, homemade pasta (ferruzzelli) with wild
porcini mushrooms and marinated sea bass, sole fillets in pumpkin sauce,
pomegranate sorbet and mille feuilles filled with chestnut cream. All of
this is accompanied by excellent wines of the south of Italy - Fiano
d’Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Falanghina del Tiburno and Aglianico del
Vulture. All the sweets are homemade.
It takes just s few minutes from the Villa Cheta Elite to reach the
underlying beach and enjoy the sea that has made these places famous.
And a beautiful sailing boat is available for use by guests who wish to
admire the splendid city of Maratea from the sea, sailing over the
waters once travelled by Ulysses.
