The Hotel Royal Victoria of Varenna is a four stars hotel facing the
lake, situated in the historical centre of Varenna. It has very old
traditions. Once a spinner, it was bought by Mrs. Giuseppina Pezzini who
transformed it into a hotel and called it Hotel Royal Victoria.
The Hotel Royal Victoria, the most famous of the Lecco branch of Lake
Como, gave hospitality to many famous people. In 1838 the Queen of
England stayed here, and it was in her honor that the hotel changed its
name to Hotel Royal Victoria.
Probably also the famous musician and composer Gounod was inspired by
his contemplations of the lake at sunset before composing his "Ave
Maria". After the last restoration work in the year 2000 the Hotel now
offers all the comforts. The bright and comfortable halls provide a
refined and attractive atmosphere; the courteous staff ensures guests
receive the best attention.
The wonderful garden with the swimming pool enjoys an amazing view on
the lake Como, while the restaurant "Gourmet" with its panoramic terrace
makes the hotel an elegant and relaxing place where you can spend a
pleasant holiday.
