Fascinating 16th century Medicean dwelling on the outskirts of Firenze
(6 Km. from the city center). Recently restored according to the Tuscan
and Florentine style traditions, adding new luster to the splendid old
mansion. The complex situated on the banks of the Arno River consists of
three villas, the Noble Villa, the Old Mill and the Villino. The hotel
offers 37 guest rooms (13 suites) all different from one another and
filled with antique furniture. All rooms have a marble bathroom, air
conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, direct dial telephone and Wi-Fi
internet access. Since the hotel was turned into a luxury hotel in 1948, many
famous guests have enjoyed a stay at Villa la Massa: Clark Gable,
Winston Churchill, Barbara Hutton, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton -

After spending 25 years at Villa D'Este, Executive Chef Andrea
Quagliarella now presides over the cooking at Villa La Massa. The
Verrocchio Restaurant consists of an indoor dining-hall beneath a
vaulted ceiling supported by two ancient stone columns, and a terrace
overlooking the Arno with a view onto the famous Rufina hills. The menus
propose a choice of both national and regional dishes, prepared with the
talent and care with the Chefs specialties. The Medicean Bar & Pool Bar:
Situated in the Noble Villa, in two rooms decorated with mid-19thth
century frescos - the Medicean Bar offers a wide selection of grappe,
whiskies, brandies and cocktails. The Pool Bar offers a selection of
light snacks for informal lunches and is open during the summer months
conveniently located near the swimming-pool with a view of the Arno
River.
