Housed in two 19th century stone houses on a hill overlooking the
Tramuntana mountain range and Palma Bay, Hotel Valldemossa offers
intimate luxury accommodation in one of the most picturesque small towns
in Mallorca. The idea behind the Hotel Valldemossa is to create a
personal ambience; guests are received as friends and the ambience is
more akin to a country home than a hotel. The property itself belonged
to the former estate of the Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa – the
town's most famous attraction – where Frederic Chopin and French
feminist writer George Sand stayed and spent time admiring the town's
beauty. Indeed, you can enjoy the same pleasure yourself - the existing
7 hectares of traditional orange and olive groves are a haven of peace
and quiet for you to wander around and enjoy the rural atmosphere.
Inside the hotel you'll find a blend of rustic stone and sophisticated
French-style décor. The hotel itself is set in a complex of gardens and
terraces on different levels, where you can enjoy the sun or shelter in
the shade if you wish. A spacious, comfortable outdoor swimming pool is
located in the beautiful gardens, along with a bar where you can have
anything from an aged whisky to a café con leche.
The rooms have been decorated with exclusive antique furniture and works
of art by eminent Mallorcan artists. A private solarium is provided all
the Junior Suites and all guestrooms have air-conditioning and heating,
direct-line telephone and Internet connections. Meals are provided in
the restaurant, which, under the control of promising young chef José
Rodriguez is a must for any stay here, not just for the great smells
coming from the kitchen but also for the spectacular views of the
valley. If you're into just lazing about, there's a nice heated indoor
pool as well as a sauna and Jacuzzi. Book a beauty treatment or massages
in your own room, or if you want to get out and about you can inquire at
reception for free mountain bike rental or day trips by boat, hot air
balloon and much more.
Valldemossa is located in Mallorca's most dramatic and scenic region and
is famous for its Carthusian Monastery which welcomed many prominent
guests during the 19th century. Activities which you can enjoy here
include hiking the Tramuntana mountain range, a visit to Palma (try
taking the scenic train from Palma to Sóller) and of course golf – there
are excellent golf courses about 30 minutes drive from Valldemossa
including Golf d'Andratx, Son Termens, Real Golf of Bendinat, Poniente
and Son Vida.
