The Hotel Abad Toledo is situated in the midst of these magical streets
of Toledo’s city centre. The hotel is just steps away from the Cristo de
la Luz Mosque and a quick walk from Zocodover, the city’s main square.
The building which now houses the Hotel Abad Toledo was a blacksmith’s
shop dating back to 1815. Within its walls the guests find three star
accommodations marked with unique character and personality.
The hotel’s privileged location within Toledo’s inner walls enables the
visitor to visit the city’s most emblematic monuments, museums and
churches on foot.
The hotel was opened 5 years ago by a family whose main goal in the
building’s restoration was to conserve the building’s historic
integrity. Through painstaking restoration of this 22 room “boutique”
hotel, the conversation of exposed brick and stone, beams, artisanal
woodwork, and picture windows vestiges of the building’s past are easily
discerned.
The rooms are divided between four floors of this old blacksmith’s shop
full of traditional Toledan masonry and large windows overlooking the
historic city. If the guests are looking for magnificent view and La
Mancha´s natural light, the Hotel recommend the rooms on the top two
floors of the hotel. The most impressive of the rooms is undoubtedly the
suite: cathedral ceilings with a loft perfect for an entire family. All
rooms have both internet and WIFI access, satellite TV, safe, music, air
conditioning, telephones and bathrooms of modern design complete with
hairdryers and other amenities.
An edgy minimalist aesthetic and the presence of the underlying wooden
structure dominate the hotel’s architecture. The use of oxidized
aluminum and daring angles are softened by characteristic Manchegan
colours which brighten many walls: tile red, cobalt blue and ochre. The
guestrooms are decorated in these same contrasting tones with
custom-made curtains and bedspreads in an attempt to inwardly reflect
the character of La Mancha. Yet, at the Hotel Abad Toledo, design and
practicality go hand in hand: the Hotel also take into very serious
consideration the needs of the handicapped, with lift access to all
floors and designated rooms equipped to permit wheelchair access.
