One of Spain's best small hotels, Mas Passamaner is a luxury country
house and catalogued monument, ideal as a birthday gift for a loved one,
or for a chic getaway on the Costa Daurada. Situated in countryside
beside the village of La Selva del Camp near Tarragona, the property was
designed by the famous architect Domenech i Montaner and was recently
subject to a skilled restoration. The building itself exudes classic
luxury with a hint of turn-of-the-century glamour, as you can see in its
distinctive Modernist architectural features. In the interior bright
light diffuses throughout helped by glass doors, Catalan-arched
ceilings, and the distribution of the bedrooms on both floors around a
central hall. On the outside the structure is classical and proportioned
and a lovely façade with sky blue tiling is one of the many delights.
Within this distinguished setting you'll find a sleek pool area, a spa,
and a range of sports facilities.
The idea behind the 26 rooms is to pay homage to a specific Modernist
architect; Antoni Gaudí, for example, is represented in one of the Royal
Suites and in each guest room there is brief biography as well as
different graphic material on display, giving you the opportunity to
learn about an architectural movement that still captivates one hundred
years later. Another big attraction of Mas Passamaner is its restaurant
La Gigantea under the direction of the prestigious chef Joaquin Koerper
who was awarded two Michelin stars in his former restaurant in Alicante.
Finally, the Spa situated in the modern annex offers an elaborate list
of treatments ranging from facial to body. As a complement to treatments
there's a nice pool-jacuzzi; the foot-shower is the perfect solution to
the circulatory problems that sedentary work causes and you’ll find
fresh fruits and infusions in the rest area.
Hotel Mas Passamaner is located in La Selva de Camp in the province of
Tarragona, a town which houses numerous vestiges of Iberian, Visigothic,
Roman and Arabic cultures of which the latter left behind an outstanding
water conduct system to the town. Staying here you are just ten minutes
from Tarragona, with its visible Roman heritage, ten minutes from the
beaches of the Costa Dorada and close to five wine areas (Priorat,
Montsant, Cava, Conca de Barberà and Penedès).
