Set in the heart of Mayfair, Brown's is one of the most historic hotels
in London. Founded in 1837 as London's first ever hotel, Brown's was
opened by Lord Byron's butler, James Brown, to provide 'genteel'
accommodation for discerning people. Brown's has always had an air of
exclusivity and refinement, which has been further enhanced since its
£24 million restoration. Sophistication and classic English style are
the hallmarks of the legendary Brown's Hotel, which joined the Rocco
Forte Collection of luxury hotels on July 3rd, 2003. Composed of 11
Georgian town houses, all 117 bedrooms (including 29 suites) have been
individually designed with a sophistication that has become the
trademark of a Rocco Forte hotel, as has the warm and personal service.
The interiors are contemporary and have a real sense of style, while
retaining much of their original, quintessentially English elegance,
incorporating all modern comforts, such as individually controlled
air-conditioning, flat screen LCD televisions and broadband internet
connections. Brown's is one of the most intimate and charming hotels in
London.
The Albemarle: Executive Chef, Lee Streeton offers a mouth-watering a la
carte menu of great British classics, using only the finest seasonal
ingredients. While the restaurant retains its clubby feel with the
original wood paneling, the walls are adorned with the best British art
including pieces by Tracey Emin, Rankin and Bridget Riley, along with
the 1930s lighting and banquette booths offer a lighter more
contemporary twist.
The English Tea Room serves one of the most famous afternoon teas in
London and it is from here that Agatha Christie wrote 'At Bertram's
Hotel'. Offering a wide choice of teas, finger sandwiches, freshly made
scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, as well as home-made cakes
and patisseries; it is the perfect place to retire to at the end of the
day.
The Donovan Bar: pays homage to British photographer Terence Donovan and
is lined with his iconic prints. This fashionable bar is also decorated
with contemporary furnishings, wooden floors and the original stained
glass window from the 1837 hotel provides the backdrop to the Bill
Amberg bar. Live jazz is performed here Monday to Saturday from 9pm to
midnight.
Rocco Forte Brown's Hotel will have a fully equipped gym with Techno-gym
equipment, which is open 24 hours a day. The Spa is home to three spa
rooms, including one luxury room for two and offers a wide range of
treatments using Carita, Aromatherapy Associates, Dr Sebagh, Natura
Bisse and Mama Mio products.
Rocco Forte Brown's Hotel is home to six function suites and meeting
rooms, which can accommodate up to 72 guests for lunch or dinner or up
to 120 people for a reception. Each room offers an abundance of natural
daylight, high ceilings, beautiful antiques and air-conditioning. The
hotel also has a fully-equipped business centre and Wi-Fi is available
in public areas.
